Session 1 | 5th of March 2022 | Dr.Malitha Wijesundara | 80 students (≃810)

  • Introduced what is programming and introduced the scratch application.

Session 2 | 12th of March 2022 | Eng.Jaliya Wijayaraja | 80 students (≃240)

  • Taught how to create a game like jumping dinosaurs. With this, the students learned more about coding and adding custom objects.

A small holiday was given because of the term tests.

Session 3 | 9th of April 2022 | Mindiya Karunasinghe | 40 students (≃110)

  • A considerable number (about 100) of students joined the programming course because of the efforts of Dr. Malitha and Mr. Dissanayake. This session was a revision of the previous two sessions.

Session 4 | 10th of April 2022 | Eng.Jaliya Wijayaraja | 80 students (≃100)

  • Introducing MicroBit and how to use it.

Session 5 | 16th of April 2022 | Eng.Jaliya Wijayaraja | 50 students (≃90)

  • Created a retro game called ‘Space Invaders’ using MicroBit.

Session 6 | 23rd of April 2022 | Eng.Jaliya Wijayaraja | 70 students (≃70)

  • Taught how to connect two MicroBits together wirelessly.

Session 7 | 30th of April 2022 | Eng.Jaliya Wijayaraja | 100 students (≃120)

  • Taught about for loops in MicroBit. Introduced TinkerCAD platform.

Session 8 | 7th of May 2022 | Eng.Jaliya Wijayaraja | 50 students (≃130)

  • Taught how to connect MicroBit with the TinkerCAD platform

All the communication with the students was done through two WhatsApp groups with about 300 students combined.

After the sessions, the students were able to create educational games/ projects using MicroBit / Scratch which was uploaded to ShowCase*.

The Posters were designed by Thaaru Perera, Thisulaka Gunaweera, and the Videos were edited by Mindiya Karunasinghe. Binula Kavisinghe and Sandayuru Ariyasinghe designed the attendance marking system.
